Pommies and Stuff
Pleasantly surprised by Kamijo’s preview. I’m going to go history nerd for a sec here and speculate that, yes, while the ‘Louis’ thing is prolly Kamijo appealing to his Interview obsession, I couldn’t help but notice the paintings in the background: LeBrun’s famed portrait of Marie-Antoinette, and one of what looks like the dauphin, who would have been Louis XVII.
Remember the 'Louis XVII' thing that kept popping up in Kamijo’s preview? Plus all the pre-French Revolution terms? My speculation is that he’s pulling the vampire thing, but that the story is he’s Louis XVII, the dauphin (heir to the throne) of France. xD
Review time! Recall that Louis XVI was executed in January 1793. His heir, therefore, would have been his son the dauphin, Louis XVII. Of course with all the crazy revolutionaries running around, it wasn’t like there was gonna be a king anytime soon. And to top it off, the poor dauphin died as a child … I think in prison (Marie-Antoinette and the fam were being held in the Temple at the time, if I recall? Correct me if I’m wrong ^^).
In any case, fast forward to Napoleon’s fall in 1815. Guess who gets plopped back on the throne during the Restoration? Louis XVI’s widdle brother, the Comte de Provence, now known as Louis XVIII. See that? The 18th. They skipped from the 16th to the 18th because Louis XVI’s son would have been the 17th.
But obviously he couldn’t take the throne since he was dead.
OR DID HE DIE?
/dork
You can thank me later. ;DD
